Synopsis:

I was issued a warning: stay away from Ben Rosenberg.

As Clifton Cove's resident "king," he thinks he's entitled to anyone and anything.

The trouble is, I've spent my whole life following the rules and playing it safe. I know what it feels like to be the good girl. I'm the police chief's daughter and a librarian-- for adorable children, no less.

An all-nighter with a fictional hunk is about as exciting as my life gets until one day, fate decides to take pity on me and shove me straight into the path of Mr. Off-Limits himself.

Just as I suspected, every inch of him promises to be my demise. Up close, he's tall, menacing-- a lawyer who looks like who looks like he'll bite. A well-behaved girl would do as she's told and avoid him at all costs, but I'm overdue for a little rebellion.

So, I ignore the warning and throw caution to the wind. But Ben doesn't just nudge me out of my comfort zone-- he thrusts me into a dark corner and presses his hard body against mine, covering my mouth with his hand to ensure we don't get caught sneaking around. In that moment, I finally understand why everyone thinks he's going to ruin me.

To him, this is all a game.
He wants to tempt me with his dares and taunt me with his words.
I should play along. After all, I asked him to make me bad. I just never thought he'd take his job quite so seriously...

My Review:

DON'T HATE ME FOR THIS!!!! This is the first RS Grey that did not swallow me whole. It took me over a week to read this. That is VERY rare for me where RS Grey novels are concerned. I did not love this one. This one just did not do it for me. I had a few problems with this book.

1. Ben is made out to be some bad guy, stay away from him, he's so bad! He is not a bad guy at all. I hate that he is portrayed that way. I actually felt bad for him at times. He is made out to be this spoiled privileged guy and he isn't. He is a lawyer and has worked for everything he has. Is he from a wealthier family, yes, but does he act that way, no. Madison's father, the chief of police doesn't like him for things he did as a teen. Okay, well, we all do stupid shit when we are teenagers, it is like a right of passage. That is the time to act like idiots and learn our lessons. Does that make him a bad guy, no, it doesn't.

2. Madison, I liked her, she is a 25 year old women who lives with her dad, nothing wrong with that. But what I didn't like was when her dad tried to control her life. Telling her what she can and cannot do and who she can see. At one point it feels very juvenile. She is a grown women and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this man. Both the father and the brother were a little too overbearing. It's just like leave her alone, she is a grown women!

3. The make me bad part, she does 2, maybe 3 dares throughout the whole book. One of them is funny and does get them into some trouble. But she is 25 and rebelling now. She wants to push her fathers buttons, which I did like, do you girl! But again, it did seem juvenile at times. Maybe if she was in college, I think that would have reflected better.

Their relationship does bloom. I did love watching them grow. Ben knows how her father and brother feel, and he does try to respect that but when attraction is there, it can't be denied. He does try to stay are arms length at first but then just couldn't. When they finally say the hell with it, with the help of friends, I loved it. I also did like their friends, they were a funny bunch. I also did love the ending. I think it came together nicely.

I do not want to sound harsh in this review because damn, I freaking LOVE RS Grey, but I am a little disappointed with this one. She had a few excellent ones in a row, HotShot Doc might have just ruined me that much, but I guess it was time for a frumpy one. Not everyone or everything has to be perfect. Some people loved it, to me, this one just wasn't her best.

3 Owls.
