Logan Knight is a real life knight in shining armor. A detective godsend in a sleek black suit has me thinking less than secretive thoughts. Brooding and mysterious, he's the kind of guy every girl instantly notices. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it's no wonder I can't help the way he makes me feel whenever I'm near him. Too bad he's unavailable-- or so he says.

He thinks I'm a do-gooder who shouldn't get involved with a guy like him. His past is messy and relationships just add to that. He insists the timing is all wrong and he's devoted to his career, but I don't buy that excuse for a second. I see the way his body tenses and his jaw ticks every time another guy is around me. He just won't admit it, but I'm more determined than ever to show him what he's missing.

I'm a devoted animal rescuer and I'll risk everything to save them, but when a dramatic turn of events puts both our lives at risk, I'm positive Logan will write me off for good. But when he asks for my help with a personal crisis, I know it's my last chance to finally show him I can handle anything he throws my way-- messy past and all.

He might think he has me all figured out, but I'll prove him wrong no matter when he thinks. This game of push and pull has me running in circles. One wrong move and we could both lose.

Checkmate, Knight.

My Review:

**Blogger Note: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

"'So you're going to be a dog-lady who adopts dogs and name them after Disney Prince's?' His brow arches as his lips curve into a knowing grin. Shrugging, I respond, 'Might as well, At least I know they won't leave, cheat, or break my heart.'"

This is the fifth book in the Checkmate Duet Series. This is Dangerous centers around Kayla and Logan, who are both introduced in the previous books. Kayla, Viola's college roommate, introduced in This is War, is a good-doer. With a dark past no one knows about, she decided to make her adult life a happier part of her early 20's. She is introduced to Logan, Drew, Viola's big brother's partner. Drew and Logan are police officers until Logan is promoted to Detective.

Kayla has had it bad for Logan since the day they met, but Logan has always been standoffish, saying he was unavailable, but she doesn't give in to that. She tried to break down his walls, knowing he is hiding something. What she doesn't know is he actually feels the same way about her, but he is afraid because of his dark past.

"I'm on my last ounce of willpower to control myself around her. Pushing her away will be nearly impossible this time if she looks a me the way she has been-- like she's waiting for me."

This book tore me apart! I completely fell in love with Kayla and Logan. As much as I love all the main characters in the Checkmate Duet Series, Kayla and Logan took the cake. I feel the storyline has much more developed. The drama is still there but it isn't the college drama type like in the previous books. Logan and Kayla both has serious pasts and it plays into real life, there are people out there that can relate to these characters.

"I want you. I want it fast. Slow. Hard. Bent over. Against the wall. I want it all night long. In the morning. In the shower and the kitchen. I want you to break me, Logan. I've never wanted anyone else as badly as I want you."

Watching Logan open his walls, letting Kayla break them down more and more, watching their relationship bloom was amazing. In the previous books, Logan and Kayla are very closed off characters. You know something is up but you never know what. We finally get under their skin and learn the truth. I was so enthralled, nothing could distract me from Kayla and Logan.

The sex in this book was HOT! I am not going to lie, once Logan let all the pieces fall, it was freaking HOT! It reminded me of myself and my husband so bad because we are just like Logan and Kayla in that aspect. I can relate to Kayla in her sexual preferences, she is a little freak in the sheets, likes it every way, every where, every which way! It really excited me! I loved it honestly. And trust me when I say, you won't look at a glazed donut the same after this!

"Smiling I fist her hair and pull her head back until my mouth reaches her ear. 'That was the hottest fucking thing I've ever seen.'"

The ending KILLED me, just as it did everyone else, KF Instafam when CRAZY! Kennedy Fox is notorious for cliffhangers but PLEASE don't let that deter you from reading this book. It is the first book in a duet, it is going to end in a cliffhanger, just like any other book in a series, they all leave you hanging on the edge of the cliff, they have to or what's the point of reading the second book. Any good book in a series has to leave you wanting more, and this book seriously does just that. I love these books! Kennedy Fox has a way of captivating you, mind, body and soul, sucking you into their stories.

5 EPIC FOXES! #TeamLayla
