Spider by Ilsa Madden-Mills | REVIEW!
Synopsis:
He called himself Spider.
I just knew him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate sat next to me on the airplane.
I didn't know who he really was... British rock star... my stepbrother.
He kissed me because he thought he'd never see me again. He would.
Everyone warned me about him.
They told me he was cold and ruthless and screwed up.
They said he'd leave me with a hole in my heart.
Maybe I should have listened
Maybe I should have built up a fortress to keep him out.
But I crumbled instead.
They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that's true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.
He just had to figure it out before it's too late...

My Review:
As I was in the middle of reading this, I discovered Spider first appeared on the scene in another Ilsa series, which I have not read. But even still, you don't really need to read it before reading Spider, but it also didn't stop me from wanting to read the other books, I want more of Spider!
I freaking LOVED Spider! From the very beginning I was hooked. I loved Spider and Rose. They meet on a plane but don't realize they have more to their story than before they met on that plane. Spider and Rose are two people with very broken souls and broken pasts. It is sad and heartbreaking but all at the same time, EPIC! In ways it is a forbidden love story but then in other ways you could argue it's not. When two souls are meant to be, you just know, Spider and Rose were meant to be from the very beginning and you don't need to read the whole book to realize that, the first chapter is all you need to read to just know.
I like Spider's father. He is another broken soul, well, that was until he met Anne, Rose's adopted mother. Anne makes Robert to be a better father and it really starts to show. Even though Spider at times feels like it's a little too late, he is a grown man when the realization finally hits Robert, his father really shows Spider that he is there for the long haul, that he was going to be there for him whether he wanted him or not. Anne on the other hand is a little to strict. Rose isn't a kid, she is a senior in high school about to graduate and make her move into the real world and Anne tries to stop her. It drove me crazy but at the same time, she was just trying to be the mother she never really had.
I love Ilsa's writing style, her books are so easy to get into, the flow of her writing just sucks you in. All it usually takes for me is the first chapter or in most cases, the prologue. Everything in their story just tied in together so perfectly! I loved the whole thing! I want more from these characters. I will keep my fingers crossed, even if it is a short story, I would read anything with these two characters in it. I look forward to more Ilsa books in the future!
If you have not read any Ilsa Madden-Mill books, I suggest Dirty English and Filthy English, they are about two brothers in college, each book follows each twin and earlier in the year I enjoyed Fake Fiancee.
5 Stars!
