Loving Jade by Roya Carmen | Review!

Synopsis:

I never thought I'd be able to leave Michael, but I finally worked up the courage. I'm not sure where I'm heading but I feel safe here with the Riverstones. This place is lovely and serene. There is so much beauty and love here.

Yet, I still don't feel free - I know Michael will find me. It's just a matter of time.

Love is the last thing I'm looking for, but Flynn is such a beautiful man, inside and out. He makes me believe that I can be stronger, that I can be fierce. He believe he can fix me with equine therapy but he has no clue how much damage has been done.

Yet, somehow, he manages to get through to me. With patience, love and understanding, he slowly peels off the hard layers of self-doubt and fear that have held me captive all these years.

Just as I finally start to get stronger, Michael tracks me down and sends us all into turmoil, and threatens not only me but the family I've come to love.

About Roya:

Mom of three little sweethearts, writer, bookaholic, Nutella-addict, artist, graphic designer, and hopeless romantic. When I'm not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, painting, yoga, camping and travel. I am a Canuck, and currently live just North of Toronto.

I write steamy romance with a good dose of angst. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting down at my laptop and making my own stories- and if those tales should include beautiful men, a little romance, and a few steamy scenes, all the better!

My Review:

This is book three in the Riverstone Estate companion series. Even though you don't have to read these books in their order, I recommend that you do, just in case you do want to go back and read the other books, you can and will spoil the previous book.

Loving Jade tells us the story of Flynn, old brother to Amber and Ruby, the leads in the previous books. We finally get to see more of Flynn. Jade is in need of some help, and her aunt is a family friend, so when she calls Amber and asks them to help her, she can't say no.

I enjoyed the story and loved reading about Flynn, but... the first half of the story felt a little disconnected to me. I didn't feel this way about the two previous books. There just was something between Jade and Flynn that was missing.

As I read past the fifty percent mark, the storyline picked up for me and really grabbed a hold of my attention. I love Jade and Flynn together. I loved the second half, it was exciting and drama filled. Even though I did feel a disconnect in the first half of the book, I never feel a Roya Carmen book has done me wrong. I loved the soft spoken books in this series, it is just different from her previous trilogy. The second half stole over my heart.

4 Stars!
