Love Me in the Dark by Mia Asher | Review!
Synopsis:
Two strangers in Paris...
One passionate, earth-shattering kiss.
He was the artist upstairs
with the tantalizing smile and laughing eyes.
He was the devil inviting me to sin,
seducing me to dance in the bright moonlight.
He was desire and need.
When he touched me, my body sang.
My soul came alive.
But I belonged to another man,
and he didn't want to let me go.
About Mia:
I am a writer, a hopeless romantic, a wanderer, a dreamer, a cynic, and a believe. And, oh yes... I might be a but crazy- but who isn't?
I believe in happy endings however I know that not everyone is lucky enough to get one, but such is life. I think fine lines exist to be pushed and possibly crossed.
My Review:
"I prayed for romance, adventure, the unknown. I wanted to fall in love and love to the point of no return."
I didn't even know I was receiving an ARC of this book, it just appeared on my Kindle. I was excited, I knew about this book and the buzz surrounding it. Love Me in the Dark follows a young women who escapes to Paris to get away from her life at home. There are a few things that lead her to her vacation in Paris but the vacation becomes more than just a vacation.
"'Jesus fucking Christ, Valentina. What are you doing to me? I'm jealous of the sun because it touches your skin when I can't. I'm jealous of every man that came before me," he breathes between lovely, lovely kisses that take and demand and mark me as his.'"
I really enjoyed this book. It was beautiful. There were so many things that just made my heart beat faster. Reading a book based in Paris, the lights, the art, the love, I loved reading about these two characters falling in love in Paris. There were some shocking moments too, making this taboo at times, which just added to the whole plot, for me at least, I am a sucker for the taboo, don't ask me why, I just am. I think it has to do with the forbidden part of it, it's exciting at times.
Mia Asher knows how to write a love story where every scene is so beautifully written. The words on the page aren't just words, they are magic, love, passion, art.
"Darkness is around me until I see you. Then it's colors. Bright, bright colors I can't describe."
My one and only issue, the ending could have been a little better. The very ending was beautiful but the William part could have had more details and a little more drama. I feel like I was getting this big build up and nothing really happened, William's lies hit the fan but as I was reading I wanted a bit more drama, I wanted William to fight harder for her, but he didn't. I just expected more and that is the reason why I had to take off a star but it still had an HEA! Overall, I loved this story!
