Singe by Aly Martinez | Review!
Synopsis:
She was my nightmare. Every time I closed my eyes, I watched her fall into that inferno. Over and over, I failed to save her.
I hadn't been able to reach her, and the guilt only burned hotter over time. Four years later, I was the unreachable one.
Heroes aren't always saints. Sometimes, we're nothing more than jaded sinners driven by sleepless nights and hearts full of darkness.
And then I met her. She was a dreamer who managed to soothe my scars and heal my wounds.
But, as the flames closed in around us, I feared I wasn't the right man to save her. That is until I realized she was the one woman I'd burn the world down to protect.
About Aly:
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
My Review:
**Blogger Note: I received an early copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.**
Wow! I finally finished this book! The beginning was wicked intense to the point where I could only read so much before I would have to put it down.
But...
The middle of this book got kind of boring, I kind of slowed down and wasn't wanting to pick it up. When I started this book I was also reading Fake Fiancee by Ilsa Madden-Mills and in between I read This is War by Kennedy Fox. I love Aly Martinez but Singe just lost me somewhere in the middle. It slowed down a little too much for me when I was waiting for something to happen. I feel like it is missing something.
I hate to say this, but Singe did not grab me like the last two Aly books! It took me far too long to get through this book. I almost was about to give it only three stars but then that ending! The ending made it for me because it was something so unexpected! I didn't see it coming. I was completely blindsided, it really changes the whole course of the book and because of that, it earned back a star.
Even though it dragged for me in the middle, it was still a solid book and I love Aly Martinez no matter what! She can write some serious alpha males that will have all the ladies dropping their panties!
I will be continuing the series and I can't wait to see where the next book takes me!
