Retrieval by Aly Martinez | REVIEW!

Giving a good synopsis of this book in my own words would probably spoil the story, since I knew very little about this book, I love going into books blind. It leaves more mystery behind the book, so it is very rare I read the full synopsis or blurb. Below, you will find the synopsis.

I proposed on our first date.
She laughed and told me I was insane. Less than a day later, she said yes.
It was a whirlwind, but we were happy...
Until we got greedy and wanted a family.

It was a life I couldn't give her, not for lack of trying. Fertility just wasn't on our side.
We sought out doctors and treatments. Spent money we didn't have. Lied to our families. Smiled for our friends. Put on a brave face for  a world that didn't understand. Finally, we were successful...
Until we were forced to bury our son.

We were left broken, battered, and destroyed.
They say love is in the details, but it was the details that ruined us.

This is the story how I took back what had always been mine.
The retrieval of my wife and our family.

I am very happy I went into this book not knowing much about it. It made it that much better. I freaking loved this book. Roman is funny, smart and sexy. You can add rich to that list, but there is a story behind that word as much as there is a story behind the man. Elisabeth is a strong woman and can stand her own against him, which gives them a good balance.

But other than a man, who fucked up what he loved most in the world, trying to get the last 2 years of his life back, this story has much more depth to it than just some office romance. There are people out there who can relate to this book.

I personally have not, but that didn't stop me from in some way relating to these characters. Aly Martinez knows how to write a fucking story that will leave you wanting more, questioning what's going on and what is going to happen next.

So much happens, there wasn't a time where I knew what was going to happen. Roman and Elisabeth kept me on my toes. the whole time, in good ways and bad.

5 Owls!
