Madness Monday | Discussion: Books and Perfect Timing

Reading books at the perfect time.

This discussion has been getting some buzz lately in the book world. It was inspired from Ariel Bissett on YouTube. Everyone has a list of books that they have read in the past and now when you look back or try to reread that particular book, you can't seem to get into it, but the first time around, you loved it!

When I started thinking about this topic and how many books might make this list, I was a little shocked because each one of these books I loved the first time I read them.

1. A book I LOVED when I first read it, I tried rereading it last year when the movie released and I couldn't get into it, I ended up not even finishing it...
Fifty Shades of Grey
I first read this trilogy in May of 2012. It is hard to believe, but it's true. I wasn't into it nearly as much as the first time around. Maybe it is something I can come back to when my list of to-read books aren't sky high.

2. I think this book won't come as much of a shock.
The Twilight Saga
Again, a series I loved the first time around but when I tried to reread Breaking Dawn I wanted to throw the book at the wall. I was about 20 when I first read this series, but reading them again in my more older adult life, it just wasn't clicking for me.

3. Another series that I read not long after Twilight, the vamps were a big thing, Dead Until Dark aka The Sookie Stackhouse Novels. I loved this whole series, but after reading two chapters of Dead Until Dark, I couldn't take it and moved on to something else.

4. I was a lot younger when I read this series, then at one time I wanted to reread the first book because of the movie. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
I started it but never finished.

As of right now those are the books that I LOVED but the second time around couldn't finish. But like in Ariel's video, I do believe in what she was throwing out there to us, it made me think, reading the perfect book is all about the perfect timing.
