Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix | Happy 12th Birthday!

Today marks 12 years to the day that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was released in book stores around the world! Honestly, it doesn't seem like that long ago to me.

I remember the day like it was yesterday! My dad took my brother and I to Walden's book to pick up our copies. We always pre-ordered our Harry Potter books as they released, so we got the call the night before saying our copies were in and that we could pick them up the next day.

It was always packed. It was a very small Walden's Bookstore... But I loved going in there! I was always the reader but my brother LOVED the Harry Potter books just as much as I did, so this was a series we kind of read together. This was something my dad didn't mind spending money on. We always got the new Harry Potter books. Even later on in years, after Harry Potter, my father had no problem letting me pick out a book when we went out shopping or to the mall. I was reading, and reading is good!

We were already out of school for the summer. I can remember getting home and the both of us immediately starting it. We sat in the front yard of our house and read that afternoon. Now, my brother is a very fast reader, I am a slow reader, this Harry Potter book is a hunker, so it took me a few days to get through it. But of course my brother finished it before me and the little shit spoiled the ending. I wanted to kill him! I never read another Harry Potter book around him.

It was always a fun experience! I will always have my Harry Potter memories, something that was a HUGE part of my childhood.
