Synopsis:

Truth: From over a thousand miles away, I watched on the screen of my phone as two men murdered my wife. And I was helpless to save her.

Consumed by hate and rage, I spent four years running from my memories.

Until a shattered woman gave me a reason to stop.

Cora lived in a nightmare, but through sheer force of will, she'd turned it into something beautiful. She had a smile that could pierce the darkest soul. And with one glance, she shredded mine.

Lie: I was only there for a fresh start.
Lie: I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
Lie: There was nothing I could do to save her, either.

But that's the thing about lies--you never know who to believe.

About the Author:
Facebook

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today Bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

Another excellent read from Aly Martinez. I pretty much love everything she writes. This is part one of a duet, so it does leave you on a cliffhanger. But that's okay, we don't have to wait long for book two.

Aly Martinez is not a rom com type author, she is romance suspense and does she ever throw you through a loop, her books always delve into deeper topics. Women who can't get away from these asshole men. Cora has a dark past that she can't get away from... Penn has the same dark past and in an Aly Martinez way, she always has an amazing way of connecting her two main characters in unbelievable ways. The mystery and suspense are always unforgettable. She has a way of twisting her readers in knots.

You can never go wrong with an Aly Martinez book. Her duets are amazing. My favorite to this day is still Retrieval and Transfer... but the way this one ended, and the anticipation of book two, this one is making its way to the top. There are some funny and cutesy parts and I love the Friends reference. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my post.

In her last few books, there was been something in each one of them that has made me knock off a star, there isn't anything in this one that I can think of. The one only thing I can think of that maybe some other readers will not like maybe is at one point Cora and Penn feel instalovey. They don't to me, but maybe to someone else. They just instantly feel this deep connection and it's because their pasts are connected.
