My Review:
This book, this series, is nothing short of amazing. I am completely invested. The only thing is I always have to wait a long while for the next book. But Quinn is finally here! I read his story and it was amazing. I loved Quinn. In the previous books, he was always a really closed off character. He is the fourth brother and the first, but not last, brother who isn't an MMA fighter, He does work with his older brothers in their fathers gym but he is their agent. he works along side their father.
"The fascination in her eyes, the smile on her lips- he drank it in eagerly. There was an unexpected pride in his guy as he saw each of his pieces as if for the first time, through her gaze."
But there has always been something different about Quinn. Something that made him not want to follow in his father or brothers footsteps. He has something much deeper in him and it shine in his story. His childhood comes back to haunt him after a really bad accident. I cried within the first two chapters because poor Quinn!
Kiera, I was very unsure of her at first. I didn't trust her. But she did grow on me. I loved seeing and reading about the other characters from the previous books. We get to read about Rory, Clare, Kieran, Fiona, Kane and Nora. I love that the whole family is entwined in each brothers story. This story has it's sad moments, there are times I had tears in my eyes. I just freaking loved Quinn!
Let's chat about chapter five. That chapter is what changed the game for me! That chapter blew me out of the water. I was sitting outside at the Dunkin Donuts at the top of my street. My mind was going crazy when Quinn was revealed! That was the chapter where Quinn completely opens up.
"The statue she was standing by now was of a woman pushing out of a wave that looked to be drowning her. He loved this piece because, depending on the angle it was viewed from, the waves were something different- hands choking her, tears swallowing her, a rush of love consuming her. It was how he'd pictured Kiera- so overwhelmed with everything her future had to offer that she'd completely missed him standing there, wanting her, wanting to tackle that future with her."
This review is a complete praise to Quinn and all the Kavanagh's, but everything I'm saying is true. The one and only thing I wished for more of was more of a back story from Quinn and Kiera's childhood. We know they were really, really close growing up, but I wish their story reflecting a little more on that. I wish we had a couple chapters of flashbacks, especially at the beginning, before chapter five, just to open up with a huge bang. When Quinn runs into Kiera, we know she means something important to him but not really sure how deep it really went. A chapter of their past would have been perfect, maybe a dream Quinn has of their past, just giving us a little insight.
But that still doesn't change how this story made me feel. I freaking loved it. All of it, no matter what.
"'Keeks.' Kiera's head snapped up at the familiar nickname. Dark eyes, jet-black hair, and sleeves of tattoos she'd memorized and traced every inch of stared back at her. He's here? 'Quinn,' she breathed, one long exhale as relief flooded her instantaneously. 'What are you ding here?' His lips twitched into a smile, his eyes roaming her body before meeting her eyes again. 'God, I've missed looking at you, Kiera.'"
5 amazing Quinn-filled stars!
