Stalker by Clarissa Wild | Review

**Blogger note: I received this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Stalker follows two troubled people… Phoenix was in love at a young age. He loved Vanessa, the only little girl who would talk to him while everyone else befriended him. Their friendship continues throughout the years, Vanessa blatantly disobeying her parents. When they reach the peak of adulthood, the pressure is on and things change. She betrays him, more than once, against her own will, hurting him more than he could ever imagine and he ends up in jail. But when he gets out, he seeks his revenge on her, already having his plan all mapped out.

Vanessa was living her life, not a happy life, but she was doing what was expected of her. All these terrible and secretive behaviors were instilled on her because that’s what her parents filled her head with. When Phoenix shows up at her door and holds her captive in her own home, the shit hits the fan. All their childhood secrets are revealed and they learn the truth about one another.

Fuck me once, I’ll fuck you twice… then I’ll bury you.”

He fucks her up. He doesn’t beat her but sexually, he fucks her up and she loves most of it, mainly the sex. He mind fucks her and sends her through many twisted emotional mind games. They once seriously loved each other but Vanessa, trapped by her parents and what they wanted, was made to walk away from Phoenix and never think of him again. To keep Phoenix out of the cross hairs of her parents and their twisted ways, she puts her life on the line for him and finds herself doing the last thing she ever wanted to do.

Phoenix doesn’t know her secrets and what she did for him… the secret she kept from him to keep him safe from her parents… So when he finds out, it changes his end game.

I really enjoyed this story. It was dark, suspenseful, gritty, violent, full of lots of hurt and anger, murder, lustful, raw and the sex was hot. Sometimes a little more brutal than what I’m use to reading but you can’t deny the chemistry these characters have, even when they don’t want to believe it themselves. Their secrets have torn them apart so much that they can’t even tell apart the truth from their lies anymore.

Phoenix has all the qualities of an alpha-male. The ending was extremely good! It was not what I expected and I didn’t see the surprising twist at the end coming. It really put these characters on edge, not giving away a thing or how this story was going to end. There are many suspenseful twist and shocks that will have you up into the middle of the night reading.

This is not a fluffy, lovey dovey, hugs and kisses HEA story. Clarissa Wild knows how to write the bad boys! Rough around the edges but will fall to their knees for the women they love… Even if they don’t want to believe it.
